Collection: Chris Fox Gilson

Chris Fox Gilson has made a career in media as a New York advertising agency partner, award-winning filmmaker, and author of college textbooks and best-selling fiction sold to Hollywood. Most recently, he has been pioneering in virtual reality.

Chris describes his role in making art as an “artistic Creative Director,” bringing new elements to Old Masters’ works and lighting his creations to recapture the bold impact of the originals. His thoughts on changing technology and media affect behavior always influence his work.

During his extensive filming in Europe, Chris visited great museums like the Musee d’Orsay in Paris, the Uffizi in Florence, and the Hermitage in St. Petersburg. He was drawn to the Masters, who were innovators in their eras. He noted how timeless their protagonists seemed, wondering how they would adapt to 21st-century media and technology, appearing ready to have it put right into their hands.

Chris believes the Masters show every new generation how our needs for self-expression, love, and meaning keep our humanity intact over centuries of conflict and change.
