Collection: Mundo Arte Presents The Shape of Feeling: Abstraction as Material, System, and Sensation

Eight artists come together in North Miami Beach for an exhibition exploring how abstraction carries memory, structure, gesture, perception, and material experience.
North Miami Beach, Florida. Mundo Arte presents The Shape of Feeling: Abstraction as Material, System, and Sensation, a curated group exhibition on view from August 8 through August 22, 2026.
What can abstraction hold today?
In The Shape of Feeling, abstraction becomes a language for material, memory, rhythm, perception, and lived experience. The exhibition brings together seventeen artists whose practices approach abstraction through painting, fiber, collage, digital processes, sculpture, and other forms of material experimentation.
The works move between gesture and restraint, geometric structure and organic transformation, visual systems and intuitive processes. Color may function as atmosphere, repetition as language, and surface as a record of pressure, movement, time, or touch.
Some of the works begin with carefully constructed systems. Others develop through accumulation, erasure, fragmentation, improvisation, or physical interaction with materials. Together, they demonstrate that abstraction remains an active contemporary language, capable of engaging personal histories, spatial relationships, cultural memory, technology, and the body without depending on literal representation.
The exhibition creates a dialogue among distinct generations, methods, and artistic positions. Each artist approaches abstraction differently, yet the works share an interest in how form and material can communicate experiences that resist direct explanation.
